Ce texte à douze mains est le fruit d’une réflexion commune autour de la notion d’« actes graphiques », ici appréhendée comme un concept heuristique permettant d’ouvrir un espace de réflexion et de recherche interdisciplinaire et transhistorique. Nous nous interrogeons ainsi sur sa signification, tout en mettant en lumière la diversité et la complexité de ses expressions matérielles. Son adoption nous amène à prendre en compte aussi bien la question des significations des inscriptions étudiées, que celles des intentions, de la forme, du support et du geste. Prônant ainsi une approche matérielle des actes graphiques, nous revenons sur les aspects épistémologique et méthodologiques d’un objet que nous proposons de saisir à partir de pratiques d’inscriptions en replaçant au cœur de la démarche analytique le contexte – spatial, temporel et socio-culturel – de leur production et réception.

Abstract
The graphic act : the dimensions of an object of study
This twelve handed text comes out of a shared question about the notion of « graphic acts » here conceived as a heuristic concept allowing to open a space of interdisciplinary and transhistorical ideas and researches. We wonder about its meanings while highlighting the diversity and complexity of its material expressions. Its adoption invites us to consider the meanings of the studied inscriptions as well as the intentions, the form, the support and the gesture. So advocating a material approach of the graphic acts, we address epistemological and methodological aspects of an object which we suggest to understand from the spatial, temporal and socio-cultural context of its production and reception.
