Abstract :
Writings of a family chronicle – from the Russian revolutions to the Prague Spring
Alfred Bern, philologist born in Ukraine in 1886, focused his research activities on novelist’ manuscripts and self-writings. However they were not a simple research topic for the specialist but also a personal object for the diarist. We’ll focus on the journal he wrote during the civil war in Ukraine in 1918 and more precisely on the pages he dedicated to his daughter two-years-old, Irina. This article traces his journal’s history from its conception to the circulation through its author’s exile and the journal’s transmission from generation to generation along with the history’s recurrences
